Smoker’s Lines describe the vertical lip lines that develop over time as a result of the natural ageing process, repetitive facial movements and smoking. In most cases, these lines run from the top of the lips toward the nose and become more prominent as we age. Although there are no health concerns correlated to smokers lines, many people feel self-conscious and concerned about the way that they can make them look – often causing them to seek an aesthetic or cosmetic solution.
The facial movements people make as they smoke promote the development of these lines, hence why they are named as such. Furthermore, the toxins found in the nicotine can break down collagen and accelerate the ageing process, causing these lines to form prematurely in certain situations. However, it is important to note that just because someone does not smoke does not mean that they won’t suffer from smokers lines!
