Procedure
First, the skin is thoroughly cleansed with antiseptic.
Some areas may not need anaesthetic at all. However, if needed, topical anaesthetic is first applied and left to numb the skin for 20-30 minutes. A numbing injection can be given to numb the area further, although this is rarely required.
Treatment Areas
We can treat all parts of the body with Lumecca
Age spots (red/brown pigmentations)
Vascular lesions such as facial telangiectasias (spider veins) and poikiloderma
Rosacea (redness)
Freckles
Sun damage
Side effects
Most patients do not experience any side effects and any skin reaction usually resolves within a few hours. Patients may find they are sensitive to sunlight immediately after treatment. It is recommended to avoid direct sunlight and tanning.
Side effects can include the following, local pain, skin redness (erythema), swelling (edema), damage to the natural skin texture (crust, blister, burn), change of pigmentation (hyper- or hypo pigmentation), and scarring. Although these effects are rare and expected to be temporary, any adverse reaction should be reported immediately
After Care
We will fully discuss aftercare with you, and make sure all of your questions have been answered. Many of us prefer to have things written down as a reminder, so you will also receive a copy of the advice to take away with you.
