Procedure

Your comfort levels and expectations are important factors which are considered in your consultation. Pain is considered to be minimal and no anaesthesia is usually needed.

The procedure requires several tiny injections in the areas you would like improving placed through a fine sterile needle into the facial muscle of expression.

Treatment can cause mild discomfort over a few seconds.

Effects can be seen within 3 days and the complete effect in 2 weeks.
Treatment lasts for 2.5 – 4 months. The effects last longer with progressive treatments.

Treatment Areas

Anti-wrinkle treatments are effective in the treatment of the following areas:

• Frown/Forehead lines
• Crow’s feet around the eyes.
• Neck bands
• Dimply chins
• To create a youthful eyebrow lift
• Marionette lines
• Slim the face
• Nasal ‘Bunny’ lines
• In the treatment of jaw clenching
• Excessive underarm sweating (hyperhidrosis)

Side Effects

Side-effects are very rare, and minimal if they do happen. Some clients experience a tenderness or mild bruising at the injection site. Ptosis or drooping of the eyelid is very rare, much less so with an experienced doctor.

Treatment is not to be performed if pregnant or breastfeeding, as we have no research to prove it is safe for your foetus or child.

Care must be taken if you are diagnosed with neurological or bleeding disorders, currently suffering with a skin infection or allergy or taking particular medication. Dr Hancock will be able to advise you further.

Please discuss any current medication with the doctor, especially if you are taking aspirin on ibuprofen. Medication may need to be stopped before treatment.

After Care

For at least 4 hours after treatment:
Keep upright – Do not bend excessively

For 12 hours after treatment:

Avoid alcohol
Avoid wearing makeup (mineral make-up is fine)
Avoid excessive exercise and swimming
For 2 days after treatment:
Do not rub or massage treated area – gently pat dry with a soft towel after washing

For 2 weeks after treatment:

Avoid strong sunlight
Avoid facials

Your final results depend on your skin condition in the treatment area, any pre-existing medical conditions, your desired results, the general condition of your skin and healing capability.

Meeting your Doctor and the consultation.

After taking a full medical history, Dr Nora will discuss your expectations with you and the range of treatments that may be available. This will include both injectable treatments and possibly a range of other treatments that will improve the outcome. You will also be provided with detailed information on the procedure and the likely outcomes. Should you wish to go ahead with the treatment, another appointment will be made with Dr Nora.

Your Treatment

On arrival for your treatment, you will be asked to check over your medical history form to confirm that nothing has changed. You will be then asked to complete a treatment consent form before having your treatment.

Your Results Review

Dr Nora will invite you back into the clinic for a short review appointment approximately 2 weeks after your procedure. This is to ensure you and the doctor are fully happy with your results. If required, adjustments can be made during this appointment.

Next Appointment

After your review, our team will arrange your next appointment in approximately 3 months’ time for if you have had botulinum injections.
