IPL - Intense Pulsed Light

With Lumecca by Inmode

Safe, gentle and effective IPL skin rejuventation

Lumecca™ the most powerful IPL

Lumecca™ is the most powerful skin IPL to treat pigmented and vascular lesions. After use, patients notice significant improvements in complexion and clarity of the skin. Lumecca™ is operated using photo-thermolysis through the delivery of a comfortable light treatment. Skintique Clinic offers Lumecca™ IPL treatments for a variety of vascular and pigmented lesions as well as general skin rejuvenation

In just 1-3 sessions, Lumecca™ improves the appearance of
Age spots (red/brown pigmentation)
Sun damage
Vascular lesions (spider veins, port wine stains, leg telangiectasias)
Rosacea & Freckles

In just 1-3 sessions Lumecca improves the appearance of:

  • Age spots (red/brown pigmentations)
  • Vascular lesions such as facial telangiectasias (spider veins) and poikiloderma
  • Rosacea (redness)
  • Freckles
  • Sun damage

Lumecca can be used on all areas of the body. The most common areas of treatment are zones that are regularly exposed to the sun. This often includes the face, neck, décolletage, legs, hands and arm

Procedure

First, the skin is thoroughly cleansed with antiseptic.
Some areas may not need anaesthetic at all. However, if needed, topical anaesthetic is first applied and left to numb the skin for 20-30 minutes. A numbing injection can be given to numb the area further, although this is rarely required.

Treatment Areas

We can treat all parts of the body with Lumecca
Age spots (red/brown pigmentations)
Vascular lesions such as facial telangiectasias (spider veins) and poikiloderma
Rosacea (redness)
Freckles
Sun damage

Side Effects

Most patients do not experience any side effects and any skin reaction usually resolves within a few hours. Patients may find they are sensitive to sunlight immediately after treatment. It is recommended to avoid direct sunlight and tanning.

Side effects can include the following, local pain, skin redness (erythema), swelling (edema), damage to the natural skin texture (crust, blister, burn), change of pigmentation (hyper- or hypo pigmentation), and scarring. Although these effects are rare and expected to be temporary, any adverse reaction should be reported immediately

After Care

We will fully discuss aftercare with you, and make sure all of your questions have been answered. Many of us prefer to have things written down as a reminder, so you will also receive a copy of the advice to take away with you.

No Obligation Consultation

Your first step is a no-obligation Visia consultation at Skintique Clinic with one of our skin specialists.

Meeting your Practitioner and the Consultation

Meeting your practitioner for your one-to-one consultation.

This will include:
• A full assessment your skin, concerns and desired results.
• Details about the procedure, likely outcomes and costs. After taking a full medical history and reviewing your Visia Gen8 images your practitioner will discuss the range of treatments available at Skintique Clinic for your skin concerns. Your practitioner will design a bespoke plan with you based on your expectations. You will also be provided with detailed information on the procedures, the likely outcomes and the approximate timescales. Should you then wish to go ahead with the treatments a future appointment will be made.

Treatment

On arrival for your treatment, you will be asked to check over your medical history form to confirm that nothing has changed. You will be then asked to complete a treatment consent form.

The treatment can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour or more depending on the treatment.

Results Review

Many of our treatments are progressive and require a course of treatment for the optimal result. Some conditions will need maintenance treatments to maintain the final result. Your practitioner will indicate the approximate number of treatments with you at the start. But as everyone is different this can only be used as an approximate guide and not as a guarantee.

The skin cycle on a health individual who has regular treatments is approximately 6 weeks.

Next Appointment

Our team will arrange your next appointment before you leave the clinic.

Prices range from £80 to £650.

The total treatment cost will depend on the size of the area being treated and how many sessions are required.

Frequently asked questions

Can all skin types benefit from Lumecca™ treatments?

Lumecca™ has been FDA approved to treat Fitzpatrick Skin types I-IV.

What steps must be taken before the procedure?

Avoid direct, excessive sun exposure or tanning one month prior to treatment.

What should I expect during and after Lumecca?

During treatment there will be a bright flash of light from Lumecca, and a sensation on your skin that feels like a light snap from an elastic band. Redness and a slight warming of the skin are normal after treatment and usually subside within an hour. Over the next 24-48 hours you may see a darkening of pigmented spots; in the week afterwards, the pigmented lesions flake off, leading to an evening out of skin tone. After treating vascular lesions, you may see the vein blanch and disappear or a colour change in the vessel which dissipates after a few days.

How many treatments are recommended?

An improved skin appearance can be noted after the first session. Multiple sessions provide even better results. Treatment regime depends on the severity of skin damage, skin type, type of treatment (vascular vs sun damage) and energy settings.

How quickly will I see results?

Sun damage and skin complexion results can be seen a few days after the first session. The skin will continue to look younger and more brilliant over time with most visible results after 1-2 weeks. Having multiple photo facial sessions will improve the final result. For vascular treatments such as facial telangiectasias, results can be seen in up to 2 weeks

Is there any healing time?

Lumecca has no significant downtime, and you can return to normal activities straight away although you may experience some redness, darkening of pigmentation and visible signs that the red blood vessels being treated have coagulated

Are there any side effects?

Most patients do not experience any side effects and any skin reaction usually resolves within a few hours. Patients may find they are sensitive to sunlight immediately after treatment. It is recommended to avoid direct sunlight and tanning.

Can Lumecca be combined with other treatments?

Yes, and it is recommended, Lumecca can be combined with many of our medical rejuvenation and anti-ageing treatments to provide a totally bespoke treatment protocol based on your skins needs.
