Telangiectasia
Telangiectasia describes a condition in which visible red lines form on areas of the skin. These unsightly lines, tiny blood vessels that have been stretched out of shape, often appear in clusters and are notable for their resemblance to spider’s webs, so much so that they are often informally referred to as spider veins.
Caused by both genetic and lifestyle factors, the people most at risk of developing telangiectasia are those who are pregnant, work outdoors, regularly consume alcohol and neglect to indulge in everyday exercise. Another big influence over the formation of telangiectasia is overexposure to the sun and this condition can be a symptom of other existing medical concerns such as rosacea.
