Thread Veins on Legs
Thread Veins, also known as spider veins, are veins that have become damaged, swollen and enlarged – they usually occur on the legs and feet and can appear as red, purple or even green thin lines or webs, hence the name ‘spider veins.’
Thread Veins develop when small valves inside the veins stop working as effectively they should, this can cause blood to become trapped and collect in the vein – eventually causing it to become swollen and spread out. Most of the time, thread veins are entirely harmless and if they do not cause discomfort then they are usually nothing to worry about. In some cases, however, they can cause psychological side effects and knock a person’s self-esteem or confidence, especially in social settings.
